The MissionMake maintaining software as easy as writing it.
The ProblemDevelopers spend as much as 85% of their time on non-coding tasks like answering questions, triaging issues, reviewing code, and writing documentation.
The ProductTo start, we built Dosu as an AI teammate that acts as a first line of defense for ad-hoc engineering requests and incoming issues. Dosu is now the most popular bot for maintaining OSS projects and internal services. It is used by tens of thousands of developers every month.
Next, we are transforming Dosu into a living knowledge-base for software teams. With Dosu developers get the complete, up-to-date docs they’ve always needed.
The NumbersWe’re looking for a Senior Product Designer with experience in developer tools and AI-powered products to design Dosu’s core user experience. You’ll design across the product surface, everything from first-time use and search to structured editing and AI-generated workflows.
You’ll collaborate closely with engineering, product, and customers to identify high-leverage design opportunities and deliver elegant, developer-friendly solutions.
What You'll DoInterviewing is hard. We aim to keep the interview process relatively succinct (1-3 weeks end-to-end), topical to what you’d be working on at Dosu, and—as much as possible—enjoyable.
1. Intro Call (30 minutes / Google Meet)A casual video call to:
We’ll walk through a few of your past projects together. We’re looking to understand how you think, how you approach design problems, and how you collaborate with engineering and product.
3. Live Design Challenge – Interactive (45 minutes / Google Meet)Instead of a take-home assignment, we’ll do a live design session. You’ll be given a realistic product design task (e.g., designing a UI for an AI-assisted developer workflow) and asked to work through it live while we observe and collaborate. The goal isn’t perfection—it’s to understand your process, how you break down problems, and how you make design decisions in real-time. We’ll debrief together afterward.
4. Onsite (3 hours / In-Person)Visit our office at 1841 Market St in San Francisco. You’ll meet the team, discuss the future of the product, and chat through how we work together day-to-day. Expect a mix of product deep dives, system thinking, and team culture conversations.
Interested? Please include your portfolio, resume, and a brief note about why you're excited to design developer tools at Dosu. We’d love to see a case study and or portfolio that demonstrates your process and thinking. Including links to personal creative projects is encouraged. Show us who you are and what you like to do!
