The Pharmacy Manager manages the daily departmental operations and clinical services, interprets physicians’ prescriptions and compounds and dispenses medications within regulatory guidelines. Consults with customers regarding the use of medications and potential drug interactions; counsels customers and handles complex problem resolution. This position is categorized as compliance critical and, as such, requires and is assigned specific responsibility for ensuring continual and proper compliance with all division, corporate and regulatory requirements. Location: Erie County Health Department- Sandusky, Ohio. Hours: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. Responsibilities include managing day-to-day pharmacy operations, overseeing procurement and dispensing of medications, verifying prescribed medications according to professional standards and legal requirements, achieving business goals and metrics, fiscal management to optimize profits and control expenses, participating in business reviews and financial processes, maintaining pharmacy systems, reviewing prescription claims for reimbursement appropriateness, maintaining operational and clinical policies, ensuring excellent customer service and clinical care, consulting with patients on medication therapy, managing pharmacy staff relations including hiring, scheduling, training, and performance management, monitoring staff compliance with policies and dispensing processes, maintaining quality improvement and security of controlled substances, recommending operational changes, responding to escalated customer inquiries, providing consultation on pharmacy and therapeutic matters, managing staff scheduling and leave, ensuring patient profile updates for insurance and compliance, serving as Responsible Person to the Ohio Board of Pharmacy, and performing related duties as assigned. Education requires a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of experience and education, at least two years related experience including one year in management, a Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy and RPh License required, with advanced degree preferred. Skills include effective communication, ability to work under pressure, decision making, leadership, interpersonal and analytical skills, customer issue resolution, familiarity with pharmaceutical products and drug interactions, organizational skills, knowledge of pharmacy computer systems, business and finance processes, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
