Location: 214 Bull Street, LaGrange, GA 30240

Position Overview

The Lafayette Center for Dance (LCD), home of the Lafayette Ballet Company, is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Organizational Assistant to support costume and prop organization for our dance productions. This part-time, flexible position is ideal for someone who enjoys behind-the-scenes work in the performing arts and is skilled in managing physical inventory and creative production elements.

Reporting To:

Artistic Director, Lafayette Center for Dance / Lafayette Ballet Company

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate weekly with the Artistic Director to set task priorities
  • Sort and organize costumes by dancer, role, and size
  • Maintain order and inventory in the costume storage and staging areas
  • Organize, label, and store stage props and production materials
  • Assist with costume fittings and be present during select rehearsals or production activities
  • Interact with students, parents, and volunteers in a professional and courteous manner
  • Represent LSPA positively when working with patrons, families, and community members
  • Maintain flexibility and responsiveness to additional duties as assigned
  • Undergo a background check due to the role’s interaction with minors

Work Location & Conditions

  • Primary work will take place on-site at the Lafayette Center for Dance studios
  • Occasional work at off-site venues may be required during productions
  • Estimated 10-15 hours per week, with some flexibility and could grow
  • Additional hours expected during peak production periods:
    • December (The Nutcracker)
    • March (Spring Ballet)
    • May (Annual Recitals)
  • All overtime must be pre-approved by the Dance Director or Assistant Director

Compensation

  • Hourly wage: $ 15.50 per hr. (non-exempt)
  • Progressive increases with successful position longevity
  • A part-time position and generally follows the public-school schedule

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable working around children and families
  • Hand-stitching and basic sewing experience preferred
  • Experience in costume management or backstage work is a plus
  • Dependability, discretion, and professionalism

Starting with about 85 students, LCD faculty began the journey of sharing their love of dance with the children of the Troup County community. Since, LCD has grown to over 200 students and a staff of 15+ wonderful Dance Educators and Student Teachers.
