Position Summary:
The IT Specialist supports the IT Manager with the computer infrastructure, all aspects of technology systems, IT security, and IT services for all LEO offices and remote employees. This position protects LEO's critical systems and assets, develops solutions, implements new software and hardware, provides training, and assists in the development of the overall IT strategy. This role handles LEO's day-to-day IT operations, ensuring that all company technology objectives are met. While the primary focus is on ensuring smooth IT operations, this position will also support the technical operations of select LEO programs as assigned, which may involve travel.
Job Responsibilities:
· Assist the IT Manager with ongoing maintenance, implement new information technology strategies, and provide technology support
· Configure and assist with day-to-day operational maintenance of the IT department, including the networked computer system(s), hardware, system software, and applications
· Monitor system performance to ensure all IT operations are running smoothly and securely
· Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, networking, and system issues when they arise
· Replace and upgrade defective or outdated equipment/components whenever necessary
· Research and recommend new approaches to improve the company’s current computer infrastructure and network system
· Provide mobile internal communication technologies, such as tablets, radios, and other data or voice devices utilized by staff to efficiently complete required assignments, including procurement, distribution, inventory control, and support
· Train and assist staff throughout the year, so they become familiar with the basics of the computer systems, available software, and ways to integrate it into their daily objectives
· Secure system and network from breaches and viruses and assist with risk-mitigation planning, including creating backup plans, data safeguards, and user security policies
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems management, information technology, or equivalent experience preferred
· 2–3+ years’ experience or equivalent training in information technology
Competencies:
· Experienced with computers, network systems, telecommunications, and internet
· Knowledgeable of industry-related software and how to fully utilize
· Proficient in Mac OS and Apple Mobile Device Management
· Able to explain technical details to people who have limited knowledge in IT areas
· Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
· Proven analytical, planning, and organization skills
· Respects and maintains confidentiality
· Able and willing to travel 4–5% and to work nights and/or weekends as needed
Environmental Conditions and Physical Demands:
Employee required to spend a portion of the time in a seated position looking at a computer screen, with some standing and walking required. The employee will be in a well-lit, heated, and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation. Employee must be able to lift 50 pounds.
