The Director of Human Resources – Affiliate Organization ensures the Affiliate’s HR operations support the recruitment, development, retention, and well-being of staff while promoting a culture that reflects the organization’s values, compliance obligations, and operational goals. This includes collaborating with Trinity’s Human Resources Leadership Team to maintain centralized oversight of key HR services and ensuring alignment with broader organizational initiatives.
1. Strategic Operational Leadership & Organizational Development
- Implements and executes human resource strategies in alignment with Trinity’s shared governance and operational model.
- Advises the Executive Director (Affiliate) and senior leadership on workforce planning, organizational structure, and culture initiatives.
- Ensures continuous improvement of HR processes in partnership with Trinity’s Human Resources Leadership Team.
- Collaborates on change management initiatives, as needed, in alignment with Trinity’s Human Resources Leadership, while encouraging workforce engagement to promote organizational readiness.
2. Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Leads the Affiliate’s full cycle of recruitment for agency and ensures timely and effective hiring aligned with staffing plans and Trinity’s talent acquisition processes and standards.
- Develops and implements strategies for recruitment marketing, employer branding, recruitment outreach, and cultivating partnerships with talent pipelines.
- Analyzes labor market trends to inform talent strategies and support operational workforce planning.
3. Employee Experience, Engagement & Onboarding
- Designs, leads, and administers robust onboarding processes to foster engagement, retention, and integration of new hires.
- Develops initiatives to enhance employee engagement, recognition, productivity, morale, and retention.
- Partners with Affiliate leadership and Trinity’s Human Resources Leadership Team to promote a culture of inclusion, equity, and continuous professional growth.
4. Training, Compliance & Performance Management
- Oversees and ensures mandatory training compliance to meet Head Start, City, State, and Federal guidelines and Trinity’s shared governance model.
- Designs, oversees, implements, and maintains performance management systems and processes in line with Trinity’s Human Resources guidelines.
- Supports leadership in coaching, development planning, and performance improvement processes.
5. Compensation, Benefits, HRIS, and Time & Attendance
- Partners with Affiliate Finance and Trinity’s compensation planning, salary benchmarking, and wage scale maintenance.
- Administers employee benefits programs and ensures compliance with applicable laws and policies in partnership with Trinity’s Human Resources Leadership.
- Ensures payroll, benefits, timekeeping and attendance modules remain in compliance with Trinity’s HRIS (ADP Workforce Now) and ensures data integrity and reporting accuracy.
6. Policy, Legal Compliance & Risk Management
- Administers and enforces HR policies in alignment with all City, State, Federal employment laws, regulatory requirements, and Trinity’s shared services and governance services’ legal oversight.
- Manages investigations, conflict resolution, and employee relations in partnership with Trinity’s Human Resources Leadership.
7. Reporting & Documentation
- Maintains accurate and confidential HR records in accordance with Trinity’s documentation standards and ensures proper documentation and maintenance of confidential volunteer data according to City, State, and Federal guidelines and regulations.
- Prepares HR reports and collaborates on compliance audits with Trinity’s Human Resources Leadership Team and presents HR reports to Affiliate senior leadership, funders, governing bodies and Trinity’s Human Resources Leadership Team.
- Monitors and ensures proper posting of labor law notices and compliance documentation across all locations.
8. Health, Safety & Wellness
- Promotes and ensures health, wellness, and safety initiatives including employee wellness and workers’ compensation programs.
- Coordinates with facilities and site directors to support a safe and supportive working environment.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field and an HR certification (SHRM-SCP or SPHR) preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity, in the non-profit, education, or for-profit sectors.
- Prior experience in non-profit, education, or federally funded programs preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with Head Start or similar federally funded program a plus.
Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of HR regulations, compliance, and best practices.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems (especially ADP Workforce Now), Microsoft Office, and data analysis.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic, mission-centered environment.
- Ability to partner with a Parent Organization in upholding shared governance principles, policies, and organizational standards.
