The Data & Policy Analyst will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data related to immigration policies and the challenges facing immigrants to support evidence-based advocacy efforts. The analyst will be expected to clearly communicate technical findings, including using advanced statistical analyses, to both expert and lay audiences. This individual will work closely with the leadership team and other staff members to develop policy recommendations and contribute to the organization's overall advocacy and policy strategy.This position is a hybrid position based out of our San Diego office with both in-person and remote work opportunities, or fully remote for the right applicant. Applicants ideally would have the ability to travel to Tijuana, Mexico up to four times per year.JOB DUTIESThe Data & Policy Analyst responsibilities include but are not limited:Collect, organize, and manage mixed-methods data related to immigration policies and programsDevelop and maintain databases or access existing databases to manage and analyze data on immigration policiesAnalyze quantitative data through advanced statistical analysis using Stata, R and/or PythonGenerate qualitative and mixed-methods data with Qualtrics and analyze mixed- methods data using Nvivo or Atlas.tiDevelop data-driven policy recommendations based on quantitative and qualitative analyses and researchDemonstrate strong research, writing, analytical and communications skills through the drafting of data visualizations and policy reports to communicate findings to internal and external stakeholdersCollaborate with other staff members to develop and implement advocacy campaigns and strategiesMonitor and analyze changes in immigration policies and programs and assess their impact on immigrationRepresent the organization at meetings, conferences, and other events related to immigration policy and advocacy, including providing briefingsPerform other duties as needed in keeping with the mission of the organizationQUALIFICATIONSMaster's degree in a relevant field such as statistics, data science, or public policy preferred, Bachelors degree in a relevant field + 1-3 years of experience in data analysis, statistical modeling, or related fields also acceptableStrong quantitative skills and experience with data analysis toolsExperience with large datasets and at least one statistical analysis software or programming languageFamiliarity with immigration policies, programs, and regulationsExcellent written and verbal communication skills to synthesize complex information and analyses into multiple formats such as policy memos and long-form policy reportsAbility to work independently and collaboratively as part of a teamStrong organizational skills and attention to detailSpanish or Haitian Kreyol proficiency a plus.Experience with Eimmigration highly preferredThis is a full-time, exempt position with a salary range of $65,000 - $80,000 DOE and includes a comprehensive benefits package.Al Otro Lados comprehensive benefit package includes:Health benefits: Al Otro Lado contributes 99% of employee medical & 70% of employee dental and vision premiums.
